Sir John Major, Britain’s Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party from 1990 – 1997,  in a speech at the foreign affairs think tank Chatham House on February 27th, launched an attack on Theresa May’s Government over Brexit and warned that leaving the EU could mean cutting the NHS and welfare state. Sir John said Brexit is an “historic mistake” and warned Mrs May that she must not create “unreal and over-optimistic” expectations about leaving the EU.
